There is a huge influential philosophy that children learn through play. It's called Play and Exploration, and many (if not all) daycares, and preschool/playschools follow this. Wee Beginnings Nursery School does not.
Now, don't get me wrong, play is important! Play is where children try out new "roles", learn social etiquette/behaviour and release stresses they feel. They also work off energy through play, especially if it's outside. Play is also a great way for parents to interact with their child.
Wee Beginnings Nursery School believes that children need structured learning for their pre school knowledge. How will they know what a pattern is or what opposites are, if someone doesn't show them first. How will they learn to count or recognize their name if someone doesn't show them? Structured learning is a great way to introduce concepts and practise new skills. Only then do children take this and incorporate them into play.
